Cariboo Chilcotin Jetboat Adventures is a local family enterprise founded by Douglas Green, who grew up in the Fraser and Chilcotin River country, west of Williams Lake, B.C. His Cree and Tsilhqot’in (Chilcotin) heritage and background make his stories a natural part of his tour. Douglas has traveled throughout Canada, USA, Mexico, Central America, and Southeast Asia and has participated in many outdoor activities including; river boating, scuba diving, sailing, trekking and mountaineering.

We offer an exciting way to explore the Fraser, Chilcotin and Chilko Rivers. Your friendly and knowledgeable jetboat operators and guides are professionally trained and have extensive knowledge about the history and culture of the area.

"Our Jetboat is a much faster and reliable way to see the river rather than most other water craft."

About Jetboats:
Jetboats are different! They were the conception of Bill Hamilton, a New Zealander who was looking for a way to boat on swift, shallow rivers in the South Island of New Zealand. Unlike a conventional propeller driven boat, a jet utilizes an internal propeller (impeller) to provide propulsion. Water is drawn in through an inlet in the bottom of the boat; then, the jet stream is driven with great force through a movable nozzle at the rear. The hulls are constructed of heavy gauge aluminum for durability and designed with a shallow angle for optimal planning and minimum draft, allowing jetboats to operate in shallow water. Jetboats have extremely good control and maneuverability. They can maneuver 360-degree turns in position, they can reverse and yes, they do have brakes! We can go upstream, downstream or stay stationary in river currents.

Rivers we Run:
The Fraser River starts high in the Rocky Mountains behind Mt. Robson as a small meandering stream. Carving through mountains and plateaus, the Fraser makes its way through spectacular valley’s and awesome rock canyons on its 1375-km journey to Georgia Strait and the Pacific Ocean. The Fraser River is the most productive salmon fishery in the world, for thousands of years many First Nations occupied well-defined areas along the river benefiting from the fish, wildlife and vegetation associated with river environment. The Fraser is the largest river in British Columbia and is recognized world wide as a Canadian Heritage River.

The Chilcotin River is a beautiful turquoise blue. It gets its coloring from the glacial waters flowing from Chilko Lake, Taseko and from the Coast Mountain Range. The canyons in this region are subject to intense hot summers, cold dry winters and high winds. The hot dry nature of this climate is perfect for small prickly pear cactus.

Over the years the high winds and rain have formed the sandy side slopes into hoodoos that tower along the river.
